The Big Brother: A Bible Story for Kids About Feeling Left Out
Episode 19 of LJ & Family, a free animated Christian cartoon for kids ages 3–10. Watch the 3:46 video together, then use the free family guide, Sunday school lesson plan and coloring page below.
The story
LJ’s baby cousin Amara is coming to stay for the whole weekend! But when Aunt Tasha arrives, everyone crowds around the baby, and nobody looks at LJ’s new block tower. When Amara cries during his favorite show, LJ stomps off to his room. Mom hugs him close and reminds him to let all he does be done in love. Dad tells how he felt left out when his baby brother came home, until the baby grabbed his finger and smiled. Big sister Nykira tells LJ that Amara watches everything he does, so LJ squeaks her giraffe and builds towers for her to knock down, over and over. Grandma tells the story of Miriam, who watched over her baby brother Moses.
“Let all that you do be done in love.”1 Corinthians 16:14 (WEB)
Talk about it and pray together
Talk about it
- Why did LJ stomp off to his room? Have you ever felt left out when a baby got all the attention?
- Little Dad’s baby brother grabbed his finger and smiled. What changed in Little Dad’s heart?
- Miriam watched over baby Moses. How can you show love to a little one this week?
Pray together
God, thank You for babies and little ones, and thank You for loving me too. When I feel left out, help me remember I am loved. Help me do everything in love, like Miriam watched over baby Moses. Amen.
