The story
On a windy fall Saturday, LJ’s ball bounces into his elderly neighbor Mr. Walter’s big leaf pile, and leaves fly everywhere. LJ grabs the ball and runs home without a word, and Mr. Walter starts raking all over again. Mom reminds LJ that we help carry each other’s heavy things, and Dad tells how he became friends with his old neighbor Miss Ruby by shoveling her snowy steps. Big sister Londyn finds three rakes, and LJ, Marcus and Mateo knock on Mr. Walter’s door to say sorry and rake the whole yard. Grandma tells the story of Rebekah, who watered all ten of a tired old traveler’s camels.
